Essential information for international school groups visiting London. This comprehensive guide provides country-specific requirements and general travel guidance to ensure safe, well-organized trips for students and staff.
- General Travel Guidance (Applicable to All Groups)
Accommodation
Transportation
Transportation options are designed for safety and convenience. We offer private coach hire with experienced drivers for group transfers and day trips, pre-booked Oyster cards or contactless payment options for London Underground and bus travel, and guided tours with qualified educational tour guides. Airport transfers are arranged with meet-and-greet services, and all transport providers are fully licensed and insured. We provide detailed itineraries with travel times and meeting points.
Insurance
Comprehensive group travel insurance is mandatory for all participants. Coverage must include emergency medical treatment and repatriation, trip cancellation and curtailment, loss or damage to baggage and personal belongings, personal liability, and adventure activities if applicable. We can recommend specialized school group travel insurance providers. All students and staff must carry insurance documentation and emergency contact numbers at all times.
Cultural and Educational Immersion
Our programs are designed to align with educational curricula and learning objectives. We offer access to world-class museums and galleries (many with free admission), interactive workshops and educational sessions led by experts, historical site visits with guided tours, cultural experiences including theater performances and local traditions, and opportunities for language practice and cultural exchange. All activities can be customized to match age groups and subject areas, including history, science, arts, and literature.
COVID-19 Guidelines
As of March 2026, the UK has no mandatory COVID-19 entry requirements for international visitors. However, we recommend that all participants are up to date with vaccinations. We maintain enhanced hygiene protocols and can arrange COVID-19 testing if required by your home country for return travel. Hand sanitizer stations are available at all accommodation and transport points. Groups should have a contingency plan for anyone who becomes unwell during the trip.

Travelling from China
Visa Requirements
Chinese students and staff require a Standard Visitor visa to enter the UK. Applications should be submitted at least 3-4 weeks before travel through the UK Visa Application Centre in China. Required documents include a valid passport (with at least 6 months validity), completed visa application form, recent passport photograph, proof of accommodation in the UK, return flight tickets, school letter confirming the educational purpose of the trip, evidence of sufficient funds, and parental consent letters for students under 18. Group applications can be submitted together. Visa fees apply per person.
Flight Considerations
Direct flights from Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou to London Heathrow take approximately 11-12 hours. We recommend arriving in the morning to maximize the first day and minimize jet lag. Major carriers include British Airways, Air China, and China Southern. For groups, we can arrange meet-and-greet services at Heathrow with assistance through customs and baggage collection. Pre-book Heathrow Express or private coaches for airport transfers. Consider booking aisle and middle seats together for student supervision during the flight.
Health & Safety
No mandatory vaccinations are required for travel from China to the UK. However, we recommend students are up to date with routine vaccinations including MMR, DTP, and seasonal flu. Students should bring personal medications in original packaging with prescriptions translated into English. Comprehensive travel insurance covering medical emergencies is essential. The UK has reciprocal healthcare agreements, but these do not cover all treatments, so private insurance is necessary. Emergency services in the UK: dial 999. Provide students with a translated health information card in English. Register with the Chinese Embassy in London (020 7299 4049) for emergency support.

Travelling from United States
Visa Requirements
US students and staff can visit the UK for up to 6 months without a visa under the visa waiver program. However, all travelers must have an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before departure, which can be applied for online via the UK government website. The process is quick and usually approved within hours. Required documents include a valid passport (with at least 6 months validity beyond the travel dates), proof of return flight, and details of UK accommodation. Students under 18 should carry a parental consent letter and a copy of their birth certificate.
Flight Considerations
Multiple daily direct flights operate from major US cities (New York, Boston, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago) to London Heathrow or Gatwick. Flight times range from 7 hours (East Coast) to 10-11 hours (West Coast). Consider time zone differences when planning arrivals—a morning landing in London helps with jet lag adjustment. For large groups, we can arrange priority check-in and boarding assistance. Pre-arrange ground transportation from the airport, as London airports can be busy and overwhelming for first-time visitors.
Health & Safety
No mandatory vaccinations are required for US travelers to the UK. Ensure all students are current with routine vaccinations recommended by the CDC. Students on prescription medications should carry them in original containers with a doctor’s letter explaining the need. The UK healthcare system (NHS) does not cover US visitors, so comprehensive travel health insurance is essential. Emergency services: dial 999. Time zone differences (5 hours ahead of EST, 8 hours ahead of PST) may affect medication schedules—consult with a healthcare provider before travel. US Embassy in London: +44 20 7499 9000.

Travelling from India
Visa Requirements
Indian students and staff require a Standard Visitor visa for the UK. Applications should be completed online through the UK government visa website, followed by an appointment at a Visa Application Centre (VFS Global) in India for biometric enrollment. Apply at least 3-4 weeks before departure. Required documents include a valid passport (minimum 6 months validity), completed application form, passport photograph, proof of UK accommodation, return flight tickets, school letter detailing the educational trip, bank statements showing sufficient funds, and parental consent letters for minors. Group leaders can submit applications together to streamline the process.
Flight Considerations
Direct flights from Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore to London Heathrow take approximately 9-10 hours. Major carriers include British Airways, Air India, and Virgin Atlantic. We recommend booking flights that arrive in the morning to make the most of the first day. For student groups, request adjacent seating to ensure supervision and group cohesion. Pre-book airport transfers with meet-and-greet services to assist with baggage and customs. Prepare students for the climate difference—London is significantly cooler than most Indian cities, especially in winter months.
Health & Safety
No mandatory vaccinations are required for travel from India to the UK, though routine immunizations should be up to date. Students should carry any personal medications with prescriptions in English or with certified translations. Comprehensive health insurance is mandatory as the NHS does not cover international visitors. Emergency services: dial 999. Indian students may experience dietary adjustments—vegetarian and halal food options are widely available in London. For emergency consular support, contact the Indian High Commission in London: +44 20 7836 8484. Prepare students for seasonal affective disorder during winter months with limited daylight.

Travelling from United Arab Emirates (Dubai)
Visa Requirements
UAE nationals can visit the UK for up to 6 months without a visa. However, all travelers must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before departure through the UK government’s online portal. The application is straightforward and typically processed quickly. Documents required include a valid passport (with at least 6 months validity), proof of return travel, and accommodation details in the UK. For students under 18, a parental consent letter is recommended. Non-UAE nationals residing in Dubai should check their specific visa requirements based on their passport nationality.
Flight Considerations
Direct flights from Dubai to London operate multiple times daily with Emirates, British Airways, and Virgin Atlantic. Flight time is approximately 7 hours. Dubai International Airport is well-equipped for student groups with dedicated family lanes and assistance services. Morning arrivals in London are ideal for maximizing the first day. We can arrange VIP meet-and-greet services at London airports and private coach transfers to accommodation. Consider the time difference (4 hours behind UAE in winter, 3 hours in summer) when planning schedules to minimize jet lag effects.
Health & Safety
No mandatory vaccinations are required for UAE travelers to the UK. Students should be up to date with routine vaccinations and carry any prescription medications in original packaging with English documentation. Comprehensive travel insurance covering medical emergencies is essential as the NHS does not cover international visitors. Emergency services: dial 999. London’s climate is considerably cooler and wetter than Dubai’s, so students should pack appropriate clothing. For consular assistance, contact the UAE Embassy in London: +44 20 7581 1281. Prayer facilities are available at major mosques and Islamic centers throughout London.

Travelling from Canada
Visa Requirements
Canadian students and staff can visit the UK for up to 6 months without a visa. However, all travelers must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before traveling through the UK government website. The application is simple, typically approved within hours, and valid for multiple trips over 2 years. Required information includes a valid Canadian passport (with at least 6 months’ validity beyond travel dates), travel details, and UK accommodation information. Students under 18 should carry a parental consent letter, especially if traveling without both parents.
Flight Considerations
Direct flights operate from major Canadian cities (Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary) to London Heathrow or Gatwick. Flight times range from 6.5 hours (Toronto/Montreal) to 9 hours (Vancouver). Multiple daily departures provide flexibility for group scheduling. For student groups, we recommend flights arriving in the morning to help with time zone adjustment (5 hours ahead of EST, 8 hours ahead of PST). Pre-arranged airport transfers with meet-and-greet services ensure smooth arrival. Group check-in can be arranged with airlines for efficiency.
Health & Safety
No mandatory vaccinations are required for Canadian travelers to the UK. Ensure students have up-to-date routine immunizations and carry provincial health cards, though these provide limited coverage abroad. Comprehensive travel health insurance is essential for emergency medical care, as Canadian health insurance typically offers minimal international coverage. Students with prescription medications should carry them in original containers with the doctor’s documentation. Emergency services: dial 999 (similar to 911 in Canada). Canadian High Commission in London: +44 20 7004 6000. The climate is similar to parts of Canada, but London can be wetter—pack rain gear.

Travelling from Europe (EU & Schengen Area Countries)
Visa Requirements
Students and staff from EU and Schengen Area countries require an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to enter the UK as of 2025. The ETA must be obtained before travel through the UK government’s online portal and is typically processed quickly. Required information includes a valid passport or national ID card (with at least 6 months validity), travel dates, and UK accommodation details. Each traveler needs their own ETA. Students under 18 should carry a parental consent letter if traveling without parents. For school groups, coordinators can assist students with the application process.
Flight Considerations
Numerous direct flights connect European cities to London’s airports (Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, and London City). Flight times are typically short (1-3 hours depending on origin). Budget airlines and full-service carriers offer frequent services, making it easy to find group-friendly options. We recommend booking group tickets in advance for better rates and seat allocation. Consider using London Stansted or Luton for European flights as they often have shorter queues. Eurostar train service from Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam offers an excellent alternative to flying, arriving directly in central London (St. Pancras International).
Health & Safety
No mandatory vaccinations are required for European travelers to the UK. Students should carry their European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC), which provides access to necessary healthcare during the visit, though comprehensive travel insurance is still strongly recommended for full coverage. Students on prescription medications should bring adequate supplies in original packaging. Emergency services: dial 999 or 112. Most European students will find the climate and health environment similar to their home countries. For consular support, each country maintains an embassy or consulate in London—contact details should be provided to all group members before travel.
